
Regulatory Due Diligence
Due diligence is the level of judgment, care,
prudence, determination, and activity that a person or business would
reasonably be expected to do under particular circumstances. It can be
used as a defense when you or your business is charged with an infraction.
IMS can assist organizations with its regulatory due diligence. Examples
of where we can assist include:
Approvals and Permits
IMS staff can assist in preparing applications for certificates of approval
for air, sewage, water and waste. IMS is very familiar with the process
and has dealt extensively with Ministry of Environment staff.
Legislative Updates
All companies registered to the ISO 14001 Standard must include a statement
in their Environmental Policy to comply with applicable legal requirements.
At IMS, we can assist organizations implement this statement (this also
applies to health & safety management systems) by proactively monitoring
legislative requirements on a regular basis. We can provide you with a
monthly or quarterly newsletter highlighting any changes that may impact
on your operations.
Reporting
Organizations are required to submit information as required by regulations.
Examples include Regulation 127 Air Reporting in Ontario and National
Pollutants Release Inventory in Canada. IMS can assist you meet these
obligations.
Investigations and Inspections
IMS performs investigations and inspections to ensure that your business
has taken all reasonable precautions, under the particular circumstances,
to prevent infractions or non-conformances. This duty applies to situations
that are not addressed in the applicable legislation. |
